EV Charging

Solar based EV charging

EV Charging Solutions

Broadly, there are two options available for charging an electric vehicle-

Plugging into a PowerPoint and using electricity from the grid.

Recharging at public charging stations.

However, these options are not feasible and convenient enough. The chances of having a charging station in your proximity are less. You have to travel far to get it charged. Moreover, getting it charged your EV charged is not a budget-friendly option to go by. It is expensive and at times, slow.  Furthermore, the energy is harnessed from coal and nuclear power plants, which no longer makes it clean energy.

Charging with the solar energy

Charging at home with a solar power system is one of the best ways to go ahead. All you need is a solar panel installed at your home or the garage roof. Using this enables you to use your own clean energy or you can directly charge your EV with a wall box. The solar systems convert direct current (DC) to alternating current (AC), which can be used for both your home and electric vehicle use. If you already have solar panels installed at home, you only need to purchase an EV charging station to forward the power from your solar panels to your EV.

What is EV charging

This can vary based on car and location but Level 1 charging typically adds about 6 miles per hour and takes about 8-20 hours to fully charge. Level 2 charging, which is most common at home adds about 20 –30 miles per hour and most full EV cars take 6-8 hours to fully charge.
